Order of the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China Number 43

The revised "List of Prohibited Inbound and Outbound Articles of the People's Republic of China" and the "List of Restricted Inbound and Outbound Article of the People's Republic of China" shall take effect from 1 March 1993. The "Notice of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China List of Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports" issued 1 November 1987 by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China shall be annulled simultaneously.

LIST OF PROHIBITED INBOUND AND OUTBOUND ARTICLES OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

I. Prohibited Inbound Articles

1. All kind of arms, imitation arms, ammunition and explosives;

2. Counterfeit currencies and counterfeit negotiable securities;

3. Any printed matter, films, photographs, gramophone records, cinematographic films, audio tapes, video tapes, laser discs (video or audio), computer storage media and other articles which are detrimental to China's politics, economy, culture or morality;

4. All kinds of deadly poisons;

5. Opium, morphine, heroin, marijuana and other addiction-inducting narcotics and mental stimulants;

6. Animals, plants and products thereof infected with disease-carrying germs, insect pests and other harmful organisms;

7. Foodstuffs, medicines and other articles from an infected area or capable of spreading diseases harmful to human beings and domestic animals.

II. Prohibited Outbound Articles

1. Prohibited outbound articles include all the prohibited inbound articles listed above plus;

2. Manuscripts, printed matter, films, photographs, gramophone records, cinematographic films, audio tapes, video tapes, laser discs (video or audio), computer storage media and other articles, which involve state secrets;

3. Valuable cultural relics, and other cultural relics for which outbound is prohibited;

4. Endangered and rare animals and plants (including specimen) and their seeds or reproducing or propagating materials.

LIST OF RESTRICTED INBOUND AND OUTBOUND ARTICLES OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

I. Restricted Inbound Articles

1. Radio transmitter-receivers and voice encoding units;

2. Tobacco and alcohol;

3. Endangered and rare animals and plants (including specimen) and their seeds or reproducing or propagating materials;

4. State currency;

5. Other articles which Customs restricts the inbound of.

II. Restricted Outbound Articles

1. Precious metals such as gold and silver and articles made thereof;

2. State currency;

3. Foreign currencies and negotiable securities;

4. Radio transmitter-receivers and voice encoding units;

5. Valuable traditional Chinese medicines;

6. Ordinary cultural relics;

7. Other articles which Customs restricts the outbound of.
